Community Gardens in 5xNW

One of my tweeps said the other day, “If you’ve never tried to grow any vegetables yourself, then you can’t really complain about the price of fresh food, can you!?” What you might not know is that the Fifth by Northwest Area Commission is working on giving us our own plot of land to do just that!

Join Becky Obester and other Commission members as they discuss the possibility of creating a community garden right here in Fifth by Northwest: Tuesday, October 19th at 6:30pm – the Reitter Building, 1500 W. Third Avenue, Lower Level. Featured speaker, Franklin Park Conservatory community gardens advocate Bill Dawson. The project will be coordinated by Friends of 43212, the non-profit arm of the Fifth by Northwest Area Commission, working with local church, charitable, and business organizations to fulfill a need to help bring fresh produce to those in need. If you want to provide input, have ideas, wish to volunteer or just hear an inspiring presentation by Bill – drop by!
