The following crimes were reported to the Columbus Police Department for seven days beginning January 08, 2010:

Aggravated Robbery – January 8
1600 block of West Fifth Ave

A 16-year-old victim stated that she was at the Key Bank using the drive-up ATM on foot when the suspect ran up behind her and displayed a large knife and said “Give me the money!” When the victim stated that she didn’t know what to do, he repeated “Give me the money!” and when she asked how much, he stated “One hundred dollars.” The victim gave the suspect $100 and he then fled down the alley behind the bank.

Assault – January 10
1600 block of Glenn Ave

The victim stated in the police report that he was at his girlfriend’s house when the girlfriend’s husband banged on the door. The door was unlocked and the husband – the suspect – came into the residence. The victim stated that the suspect pushed him and started punching him in the head and kicking him. He got up and got away from suspect, but the suspect kept pushing him as he was leaving the residence. Suspect kept yelling at victim as he was leaving. The victim stated he drove away and called the police. He was not at scene when the police arrived, but stated that he had a bloody lip from the punches. The victim stated that his now ex-girlfriend called to officially breakup and the suspect grabbed the phone and left a threatening message on his voicemail.

Theft from a Vehicle– January 10
1300 block of West Fifth Ave

The victim stated that a leather jacket valued at $400 was taken from her car while it was in the car wash at Sax Car Wash. The reporting officer talked with staff who did not remember seeing the item and also checked the building, but the missing item was not found. Victim wished to have a report taken and only wanted her item back.

Vehicle Theft – January 11
1500 block of Northwest Blvd

Victim reported that his Ford Explorer was removed from the private parking lot at 1587 Northwest Blvd. by unknown offender(s). Broken glass on the pavement and in the snow indicates that the passenger front door window was smashed out to gain entry.

The following crimes were reported to the Columbus Police Department for seven days beginning October 30,  2009:

Auto Theft and Criminal Damaging – October 30
2300 block of Aschinger Blvd

Unknown suspect(s) smashed out the rear driver’s side window of the Jeep Cherokee and then attempted to steal it by peeling the steering column. The vehicle’s ignition had tool marks on it from where the suspect attempted to pry it out. The plastic cover that surrounded the vehicle’s ignition system was also broken off and laying on the floor of the vehicle. The complainant stated that the vehicle was locked and that the suspect(s) gained entry through the window. The complainant stated that the vehicle has a security system but that it was “going off” when he found the smashed out window.

Burglary – October 30
1600 block of Arlington Ave

Officer spoke with the resident who stated that as he was pulling into the rear of his home he noticed the suspect attempting to gain entry into his house.

Burglary and Criminal Damaging – October 31
1300 block of Grandview Ave

Unknown suspect smashed the front window of Cowtown Pizza. Extent of damages unknown at time of police report.

Burglary – November 1
1400 block of Broadview Ave

Victim stated that known suspects took a bag of clothes, mattress, two televisions and a DVD/VCR combo (all valued at $720) from her apartment. This was witnessed by two witnesses who saw the suspects moving listed items out of the address. The door was not locked.

Theft – November 1
1400 block of W. Sixth Ave

Victim stated that her ex-boyfriend, took a Coach purse valued at $100 from her residence. Victim stated that they recently broke up and the suspect had a key to her residence. While the victim was at another location the suspect came and took the items because according to the victim he knows that taking them would hurt her. Officer tried to contact the suspect, but was unsuccessful; and left a message to return the items or face possible charges. Victim was advised to charge her locks, call the police again if he comes back, and referred to the prosecutor’s office.

Theft – November 4
900 block of King Ave

Person(s) unknown took Oxycodone and Diazepam from the listed address without the victim’s permission. The victim gave his landlord permission to allow maintenance personnel into his apartment to work on a plumbing problem. The landlord gave a person of interest the  key to the victim’s apartment but did not actually go into the apartment with him. The person of interest also had an unknown assistant with him; neither person was on scene at the time of the police report.

The following crimes were reported to the Columbus Police Department for the week of October 23,  2009:

Assault – October 23
1400 block of Olentangy River Rd

The victim stated that  he was assaulted by the suspect in the basement of the above listed location. The victim stated that he was attending a speech by John Kasich and that he was assaulted after he attempted to ask Mr. Kasich a question. The victim stated that he was asking Mr. Kasich “why he doesn’t show them his tax returns” and that the other people in the room were unhappy with his question. The victim stated that he again asked Mr. Kasich to show his tax returns and Mr. Kasich did not respond and exited the room. The victim stated that after Mr. Kasich left the room, the suspect stood up and told the victim to “get the hell out of here!” The victim stated that the suspect then threw a paper booklet him, which struck him in the chest causing no apparent injuries. The victim refused any medical treatment at the scene. The victim stated that he wanted the incident documented any case of any future incidents that may occur between the victim and the suspect. The victim stated that he did not know who the suspect was but that he had him on video from film during the speech. A witness stated that he was at the event with the victim and was also filming the speech.  The witness stated that he saw the suspect throw the booklet at the victim and then flee from the scene on foot as the victim called CPD. The suspect was no longer at scene when responding Officers arrived.

Breaking and Entering – October 24
1400 block of W. Seventh Ave

The victim stated he heard a loud noise and was confronted by the suspect inside the  residence. No property was reported stolen

An unknown person forced entry into the residence. No property was stolen.

Victim reports least 5 vehicles were broken into by suspect(s) unknown. The unknown suspect(s) gained entry by smashing the side windows to each vehicle.  3 victims filed reports including reports of three broken windows, a stolen GPS and music CDs with a total value of $1260.

Separate report of theft from vehicle. GPS stolen and window smashed. Loss values at $450.

Burglary – October 18
1800 block of Lafayette Pl

Unknown person(s) entered the unlocked apartment and removed victim’s car keys from a basket sitting near her front door. Victim states she had her door ajar while she was cooking because it was warm in her studio apt. and forgot to close and lock the door when she went to shower. States she did not go back outside the rest of the day and did not find her 1995 Buick Century missing until she went to leave for work the next morning.

$1200 worth of items stolen from a Ford F-150, but many were later recovered from a parking lot at Westpointe Plaza.

Bike valued at $400 stolen from Colony Club apartment building.

1300 block of Presedential Ave

Suspect smashed passenger side rear door of a Chevy Blazer and stole 2 12 gauge  Shotguns valued at $2100 and a left hand bow valued at $800.

Theft – October 2
1100 block of Kinnear Rd

Between 4 am and 10 am on October 2, an ipod and other car stereo equipment valued at $650 were stolen from a vehicle of a 21-year-old male.

Breaking and Entering – October 2
1500 block of Arlington Ave

Between 2 pm October 2 and 8 am October 3 an unknown person broke a basement window to gain entrance to a vacant home. The unknown person removed copper waterlines from the home valued at $500.

Breaking and Entering – October 4
1500 block of Virginia Ave

Between 8:30 pm October 4 and 5:45 am October 5, an unknown offender unlatched a rear fence gate and entered the back yard. Offender then opened an unlocked entry door to a detached garage and removed $5 in coins from the unlocked vehicle which was parked in the garage.

At 9 am on October 4, an unknown person busted the driver’s side window of a 2004 black Chevy Blazer and “tore up the dash” damaging the dash and audio equipment.

Theft from Vehicle – October 7
1200 block Olentangy River Rd

At 6:00 pm October 7, the victim parked her vehicle in the Fish Markets lot and entered the business. Unknown person(s) smashed out a window in her and took a black leather backpack, an unfilled prescription and 2 credit cards, which were later used at a gas station.
